Channeling Skateboarding Into My Surfing Surfing Session 327, four years into my surfing progression. We had a fairly flat summer, so I was skateboarding a lot instead of surfing. I have been skating at the skatepark and even pumping and carving in the skatepark bowl. I go at the early hours to have the park all to myself. At the skatepark, I get to practice a lot of skills on the skatpark feat...

This was the perfect video. I want to rent a Hobie, but my sailing lessons were years ago. Your video reminded me of the basics. I really appreciated your honesty about trying the open ocean! I don't have any advice about Hobies or BVI - but I have heard that St Lucia is "the most beautiful island in the Caribbean" because of it's jutting small mountains. I hope to go there sometime!
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! Sailing the hobie in the harbor was fun! Enjoy! The open ocean was more windy and risky. Luckily we made it back! 😀
Thanks for watching! This is footage from my surfline app on a surfing session. Could any of you tell which surfer is me? Happy New Year and I hope you all get to surf a lot this year.
Ahh, I wanted to go surfing there on New Year's Day, but I didn't. Now I can't quite remember why, though I had my reasons (and still have SL clips of and for myself from Xmastime.) Thanks for this brief escape from the troubles of the world today, but as paired w/this rendition of "Auld Lang Syne", I feel a twinge of sadness for days gone by.😢🏄♂️☮️
Hi Laura! Glad you went surfing in December. January 1 was a great day. Get out there when you can-we will have more surfing days coming this year.
Great video! I’ve recently got back into skating and am interested in a birdhouse complete. Is the deck nose slightly bigger than the tail on these decks? Thanks!
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy getting back into skating. Yes it is slightly larger than the tail. Skating has been a fun hobby to supplement my surfing.
@ Awesome, thanks dude!
Thanks for watching! Do you have a Tesla? Which Lightshow is your favorite?
from melbourne australia bought ne yesterday back into it in the near skatpark see how i go
Awesome! Let me know how it goes.
@@vilramos ok so was all gee'd up got there after work (11:45pm) and forgot new deck at "factory settings" ha so i wobbled all over had no tools, but met another fella there on his own was 42 doing exact same getting back into it!
@glenb-gc9iq I hope you had fun skateboarding. It is fun to get out there and skate.
@ gahhh bot response sighhhh
No, it’s not a bot but I am sorry if it seemed like that. I hope you had fun skating with the 42 year old fella! Did he have tools to help adjust your trucks? I keep a skate tool in my bag when I go skating.
Hey, I've stumbled upon your channel today, searching for how Manual Reel Mowers work. Then I've watched your Organic Lawncare playlist. Great content, wholesome presentation, keep up the good work! So, I have a question: How do you deal with ground moles, organically? Or others in your area or elsewhere? Now, I don't have a lawn, I have an organic orchard/plantation, that's on the edge of the forest, so plenty of wildlife. But I assume same techniques could be implemented, with more work.
Thanks for watching! I don’t specifically target moles but I do prevent grubs by using milky spores to control grubs. It is safer alternative. And this may help deter moles. However I don’t target other insects so my lawn has a lot of earthworms and insects so I have seen moles and voles in the lawn. Apparently they like eating grubs earthworms and ants. In my compost pile I try to avoid composting any meats or proteins to avoid attracting animals.
I have read online that castor oil may help repel moles and voles.
Here is the Link for Ho Stevie Surfboard Sock: amzn.to/3V8RCOL
Hi! I am looking for the link for couldn’t find it in the comments
For the surfboard sock? The link was in the video description rather than in comments: Link for Ho Stevie Surfboard Sock: amzn.to/3V8RCOL
Do u still skim?
Yes! I still skim and I bring my skimboard to the beach in the summer to play around with it. But I am surfing more nowadays. I got a few injuries skimboarding: hitting my foot on the skimboard or wiping out or pulling something.
I know this is old, but just an FYI, snowblowers are designed and made to break a “shear pin” when you hit an object. Basically, a bolt with an intentional weak point that conects the auger to the drive shaftt, that snaps so the auger doesn’t damage. This is a very simple fix.💪
Thanks.
Agreed!!!👍
Honestly, amazing and informative video! Wasnt expecting the extra knowledgeable tips. ☺️ Thanks.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the compliment! I have other organic lawncare and how to videos in my channel that you may enjoy.
Thank you! Was easy to install.
You are welcome! Glad it helped out.
is it better to have a bag that catches the clippings with one of these lawn mowers or would i just want the clippings to go back to the earth?
For me, I prefer to leave the clippings in the lawn to feed it. The clippings have nutrients that I want to leave in the lawn. However there is a bag that you can buy if you prefer to remove the clippings. You can also use the bag if you have a lot of weeds like dandelions etc that you don’t want. I actually like clover in my lawn so I don’t use a bag.
Where are you in USA washing the car? I’m looking in Los Angeles with no luck. Thanks
Boston area. Try searching for touchless car washes near you. I believe there are car washes there.
it seems to me that a blower would be faster. Also, the sweeper you are using throws a lot of leaves back onto the grass
Thanks for the comment! I agree, a blower would be faster, but I like this because it is quieter and no exhaust.
❤
Can the Aerocovers be installed when the center and lug nut caps are installed in the wheels?
I believe you have to remove the caps first. The center is where the aero cap attaches. I will check about the lugnuts to see if they can fit.
Fantastic
Thanks for watching! I have a surfing playlist that you may enjoy.
@@vilramos thanks
My factory gemini wheel covers have scratched my wheels where the cover clips to them. Just something to be aware of when using the gemini covers.
Me too, I have marks where the cover touches the spokes. It doesn’t bother me but good to let people know.
Thanks for watching! Have you seen the Saltsman Halloween exhibits in Marblehead? Which is your favorite one?
That's why it costs so much they give you a new wheel with the tire. Tesla tires are expensive. Trust me I have 3
Thanks for the comment. When I had the flat tire, the mobile tech came by and took away my original wheel and flat tire and provided a loaner wheel and tire. This video if from the second day. The loaner was the wheel and tire at the start of the video. He took that off and into his van. Then he replaced my original wheel with a new tire on it. I may have been able to save money by patching it rather than replacing the tire. But it was 30k miles old already. And the mobile service did save me to cost of a tow truck.
Wowwwww. Changing a tire on a Tesla is almost exactly like changing a tire on a Regular fucking car.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Next up blocks the wheels at the end.
Thanks for the comment. I will adjust it on the video.
I would be interested in seeing it comes to you while parked in between two cars! It can be done by simply replace the two parked cars with cartoons or traffic cones Let’s see
Thanks for the suggestion! I will try that next time!
you shouldnt have let him torque the lugs
Why not? Don’t they have to be tightened with a torque wrench to reach the proper tightness?
Thank you for watching! Have you traveled to Portugal? Which cities or towns did you visit? Please share any friendly tips or comments.
0:05 Shh!🤫
Id rather lose a little range and have a full size spare than to be stuck on the side of the road with a flat
Thanks for the comment. I am a little lazy to put a spare on my own, so I would probably still call roadside service to help out.
You emptied before it was hardly full. I have this and I fill all the way to the top before I empty. The way you're doing it would be aggrivating.
Thanks for the tip. I get it. I am a little gun shy to fill it too much because one of the plastic parts broke once and needed replacement which they sent to me.
@@vilramos The quality is bad. All plastic. But it gets the job done. There are stress points near the basket so yours may last longer than those like myself, using it for heavy duty.
My Tesla SC wanted $175 CAD to remove a nail in the tire of my M3LR. At first they said they had to replace the tire at about $300 CAD. I told them the nail was not in the side wall but in the tread. Needless to say, I took my car to a local retail chain and got it patched up for about $60 CAD. Dude, you got robbed! LOL
Thanks for the tip. I am not sure if my tire was same solution as yours but I agree that the service center tends to replace rather than fix. I will look into patching next time though I heard Tesla tires have foam for noise that can complicate patching repairs. But the mobile service and Tesla did help me avoid towing costs on two flat tire incidents.
I'm on my second Tesla - Model 3, now a Model Y - I had to have one of my 19" tires replaced due to road hazard - it cost me $450 at the Tesla service center - the tires are expensive! 😬😩
@@unordinaryman Should be more like $250-300
They charged me 332 for the tire and 62 for labor then about 20 dollar tax. The mobile service was convenient because they came to my home to provide a loaner for one day and then came to my work to replace my original wheel with new tire. This avoided towing the car to the center and allowed me to drive it to work on loaner. For another flat on this Tesla I had a few months ago, Tesla towed my car to the center to get fixed and charge was similar and tow was included in cost (no extra charge).
Its not too bad when you add guide tines in front of the single stationary blade. Like how combines guide in rows, you guide in the grass to cut more reliably. I made one from stainless steel (3d printed plastic did not work it broke) and it has been reliable ever since. Its also being powered by battery which makes it EASY and relatively green and cheap to mow my entire lawn, on 2 batteries. Its been, good, not great, its a learning process and it takes a bit more time. I think an electric rotary lawn mower would be more efficient and way easier and quicker, BUT the cut quality is lower and I hate the ones on the market with the garbage clotted coagulated crusty vaginal mower decks, thier designs are despicable. But, i like the reel mowing action expecially when its automatic on a uniform area of grass.
Thanks for the comment and the tips!
And he tightened the lug nuts on the ground with a torque wrench. The way it is supposed to be done. Way too many times I see shops/techs just impact them on while the car is still in the air, and now they are probably overtightened.
Thanks for the comment!
Honest, hard working people are a blessing to society.
Why does the wheel under the hubcap look better than the hub cap? Why do they put the hubcap on there lol. Tesla weirdos.
It does look better, I agree! They have a wheel cap kit that I used this last summer for looks. I do use the aero cap most of the time though because it makes the Tesla 3-5 percent more efficient, and quieter wheel noise, and protects the wheel from curb rash. It is nice to have option to switch out. I recommend to use the caps in cold weather when efficiency matters more and on road trips.
It comes from factory like that, It’s for aero efficiency, without them you get less range, no one is weird for wanting more range
What a dumbass you are lol
I just changed my tires today, to my winter set on the stock Gemini wheels. Super easy but I'm way slower than this tech haha. I do use a safety jack stand on the floor jack though.
Thanks! Maybe I will try it one day. Seems like a fun task. What equipment did you buy to switch wheels on your own? He was quick!
@vilramos 3 ton low profile floor jack, torque wrench, safety jack (rennstand), breaker bar. Then of course, 2nd set of wheels + Bluetooth TPM + the rubber. I put winter tires on the stock wheels and the OEM all season on new matte black wheels.
And do you thank Tesla because they didn't charge you for the tire? Or because you paid about $500 or more? Could we know the total amount of the damage?
They charged me 332 for the tire and 62 for labor then about 20 dollar tax. The mobile service was convenient because they came to my home to provide a loaner for one day and then came to my work to replace my original wheel with new tire. @@vilramos Thank you for answering my message
Thanks for watching! Have you used Tesla’s mobile service? What was your experience like? Please share any friendly comments.
Love the look without the covers
Thanks for watching! It is nice to have the option to switch from the wheel cap kit for better looks to the aero caps for better efficiency/turbulence/noise.
Gemini wheels look better
Whats up ! I've tried pumping and carving on my regular board and the movement and all that seems off and weird. You should consider getting yourself a surfskate, just got myself a carver rad ripper, pretty excited can't wait to get it. I bought a surfboard this summer aswell, haven't tried it nor have I ever surfed, the waves are pretty flat and its not worth doing a 4hr drive to the shore especially for me who probably wouldn't enjoy the first days of surfing lol. But I've heard that surfskates really help you with the movement and pumping and just getting the feel of surfing. So just gonna learn on that badboy for a bit especially on the pump tracks and maybe will be good enough to actually feel comfortable on the surfboard itself and hopefully visiting my local shore will be well worth it haha
Thanks for the comment! I do have a surfskate, it’s a Loaded Carver Bolsa. I use it often on flat land and at the skate park. Great for carving and pumping. I try to avoid the wiggling on it which is bad form. I have lately been working on the skateboard more which is more challenging and more versatile - dropping in, going fakie and one day hopefully Ollie’s. I like using both though!
@ oh nice. What do you mean by saying you try to avoid wiggling which is a bad form. Do you mean that wiggling is not realistic in surfing and a bad habit to develop or what ?
I am just learning it on some UA-cam surfing channels they show how to use the surfskate for surfing. Check out OMBE surf on UA-cam. I learned a lot from them. They encourage people to lean, compress, extend and twist on the bottom turn and the top turn, but not wiggle. I usually push off and try to pump on the surfskate in the bowl.
@@vilramos got it, will do, cheers🤙
Here is a video I made about OMBE’s 12 week surfing program: How to Surf: 12 Week Surfing Program from OMBE Surf #surfing ua-cam.com/video/x-HELgV4Acs/v-deo.html
Not a skater myself, but hopefully, I can also glean some tips from this for my own surfing. (Yours is looking great, btw!) Recently, I realized I may need to stay low and keep my arms down after my popup to get better balance? We'll see... Hey, if you could ever get someone to film you from the shore, that would also be cool to see.🛹🤙🏄♂️
Hi Laura, thanks for the comment. It is great to stay low and balanced when you pop up. Also try to see what compressing and extending does for you. At pop up, you can compress and stay low and arms low as you go down the wave, and try to extend a bit as you ride down the ramp, this will give you speed, like pumping. Then compress again as you lean into a bottom turn with either your toe side rail or heel side rail in to go down the line. Then aim for the top of the wave and extend by standing up and lift your arms, this will help your surfboard to unweight and get to the top of the wave. This is what I was trying to explain by compressing/extending twice on a wave. Once you are there, you are standing up, do the same actions again. I would love someone to film me from the shore, but they need a strong zoom lens. I do have a drone, so I have some drone footage I have taken with my daughter. Maybe I can try using the follow me feature again. Have a great day!
Thanks for watching! Do you skateboard or surf? Please share any friendly tips or comments. I would love to hear from you.
Hi Vil! Thanks for the video! Quick question: If you are using a grate which will lead the logs toward the center, and knowing that by using this method, the logs won't need space between them, why arrange the logs perpendicularly like a Jenga? Would it work if all logs were facing a single direction? Thanks!
I think the reason I use the jenga method is that it becomes stable for nine logs, with each row perpendicular, like a log cabin but with three logs each layer. I think if I had 9 logs in three layers with all the logs parallel to the back wall, then I would worry about stability-would the logs roll over and fall forwards or backwards. Try that with a jenga tower and you know what I mean. That would be hard to balance. When it is burning, the logs may also fall forwards and roll into the room. If the pile was a pyramid, that might work such as three on bottom, two on second, one on top. For smaller fires, I like using the Z method or N method (thats what I call it). I have two logs parallel to each other with tinder between them, then I put a third log over them, forming a Z or N. This is a smaller fire, with only three logs, burns quickly and does not last as long. Or I do the lean to fire: I put a big log in the back parallel to the wall, then I lean two logs over them like an upside down V and put tinder in the middle of the V. To make these formats like "upside down fires", you can put three logs below as the base to catch the embers, so you have 6 logs total. It all depends on how long you want the fire to burn. Try different approaches like I have and have fun with it!
I think the new black gemini wheels help folks keep the covers on. These silver ones just weren't it lol. I have a 6 day quicksilver Y and went gemini and the black is so much better.
Thanks for the comment! The black covers look great!
Hey vin. I seen your learning to skim videos. Looks ike you were picking it up good. Did you continue or are you just surfing.
I surf more now but I still bring my Skimboarding to the beach with my family when we go. Thanks for watching!
Hello vin my name is thrice. I am tginking about starting to learn to surf at 47 yrs old. Looks likes its possible looking at you. Think i just herd you say your from boston area? Do you surf there. I am wondering where I should start. Cali, florida, anywhere. Could you recommend a good board. Definitely need a long or foam. Which one did you start with. Would love to talk to ya when ever you have a free min
Thanks for watching. You can learn to surf anywhere where there are waves breaking. Best advice would be to speak to local surf shops in your area. I would recommend that you buy a longboard to start with whether it is soft top or rigid. I started on a 9.5 foot soft top board and now mostly use 9 foot longboards. Good luck!
@@vilramos thankyou. Its either ganna kill me or i am going to learn
